The city of firsts is to hold the UK's first ever ski-a-thon.
The event, supported by MK NEWS, is to be held on the slopes of the SNO!zone in Xscape, Central Milton Keynes. It will see skiers and snowboarders rubbing shoulders with the sports stars of the future as the British Paralympics Development Squad is taking part.
The 12-hour endurance challenge, on Saturday, June 13, will raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), a national charity based in Milton Keynes, which is celebrating its 35th birthday.
Sonic the Hedgehog will open the event by leading the skiers and snowboarders in the first leg down the indoor slope.

Up to 45 teams of two to six people aged over 10 can take part. One team member has to be on the slope at all times and teams are given the opportunity to switch skiers at hourly intervals.
SIA is keen to encourage disabled skiers to join in.
Gwen Pearson, head of fundraising for SIA said: "Adaptive SnowSports MK will provide rides for the general public on their mono-skiing equipment, which is modified for disabled skiers. We want to spread the word among the able-bodied and those confined to wheelchairs that life does not have to stop if you become paralysed. This gives everyone the opportunity to experience the same thrill of hurtling down a slope, regardless of ability."
For spectators there will also be Nintendo Wii competitions, fashion shows, a shop window treasure hunt, taster sessions from the Love Your Body group and live musical performances.
Steven Gordon-Wilson, marketing and promotions manager for Xscape added: "It promises to be one of the most fun-packed fundraising 12 hours for spectators and skiers, to help us all make history with Britain's first ski-a-thon."
The ski-a-thon team leader that raises the most sponsorship money by July 13 will win a week's stay for two (double bedroom) in a bed and breakfast in January at Haus Kienreich ski resort in Austria.
Every team leader will also be entered into a prize draw for a place on SIA's Reach for the Peaks Ski Challenge, held in Austria on February 4 to 7 2010. This is a ski hard and play hard long weekend involving skiing or boarding down 35 peaks, in 48 hours.
