The craze of spreading happiness through random acts of kindness has hit the streets of Milton Keynes.
A group of youngsters led by anti-bullying campaigner Alex Holmes were out on the High Street in Stony Stratford on Friday cheering up passers-by.
The gang, aged between seven and 21, hoped to dispel the 'hoodie' stereotype of young people by giving out flowers, cakes and sweets and offering free hugs and smiles.
Mr Holmes said: "One elderly lady cried because she said it was so nice to receive kindness from us, it moved her that much.
"Many commented on how much of a nice surprise it was and that it did make their day.
"I think it showed that it was 'cool to be kind' and bridged the gap between the older generation and the younger."
The group plan to hold more Random Acts of Kindness days across the city.
