A pioneering scheme to get the older generation online has been launched at Oceana.
MK Dons SET community ambassador Paul Mitchell joined BT's Communicating for Success ambassador, and former England and Arsenal defender, Martin Keown, as a group of over 55s got to grips with the internet.
It was left the members of the Dons academy to teach the over 55s how to use websites such as google and facebook. In return they enjoyed a rock 'n' roll lesson at the Milton Keynes night club.
BT and the Football Foundation teamed up with the Dons' Sport and Education Trust to introduce the older generation of fans to the 21st century technology skills.
The Dons project 'Alive & Kicking' is being run through the summer into September, and the 14 participants will be offered the unique opportunity to try a range of physical activities from archery, yoga and canoeing to Salsa and rock 'n' roll dancing.
They will also be able to explore the digital world as they get their first chance to surf the internet, try out digital cameras and use mobile phones.
This will include trying their hand at setting up a facebook page, shopping online, uploading their photos, emailing and texting people they know showing how easily the technology can enhance their everyday lives.
A visit to the BT Archives at Milton Keynes Museum will also give the group an opportunity to explore multi-media
Angie Ward, MK Dons Playing for Success centre manager, said: "This is an inspirational project and will really open a new world for the older generation.
"We at MK Dons are delighted to be part of this scheme and to be helping these internet novices on their digital journey is really exciting for us."
Peter Cowen, BT's South East regional manager, said: "The MK Dons project is truly inspiring and technology has so much to offer the older generation and it is vital that we find ways of demystifying the digital world we now live in and ensure that everyone has the confidence, opportunity and skills to take part."
