Hello all, to this week’s Vince’s View
We had a bittersweet weekend - with the bitter coming before the sweet.
On Saturday night we got knocked out of the BBL Cup, and deservedly so - we didn't turn up. Well, we were there but not there, if you get my drift?
After five minutes it was a two-point game but from there onwards we proceeded to miss over 60 shots, I don’t care if you’re playing your B team or your C team, they will beat you if you can’t put the ball in the basket.
The Riders went on to win the game handsomely and we wish them luck in the quarter finals.
We were left licking our wounds, but not for long. The following day we had to be in Brentwood to face the London Leopards in our final BBL Trophy group game, a win there and we would knock out the Leicester Riders. We duly dispatched the Leopards and take our place in the semi-finals where we will face the Plymouth Raiders in a two-legged affair as we try to make the finals.
Nuno Pedroso came through both games with his game back on track so now we look forward to seeing his contributions, however this team is still young and we are not yet firing anywhere near all cylinders, that bodes well for the season.
As with all weekends in the BBL, there is no time to rest. On Friday we will travel to Newcastle to face an in-form Eagles team, then on Sunday we are back playing at home against the Guildford Heat. We need to establish ourselves now and need our fans to get behind us and drive us on. Tip-off is at 5pm on Sunday at the Lions Arena.
