Ice hockey beaten by the big freeze

Even ice hockey could not beat the freezing conditions over the weekend as MK Li ght ni ng had both of their matches postponed.

On Saturday their visitors Manchester Phoenix were unable to complete their journey to Milton Keynes, and on Sunday their trip to Bracknell Bees was post poned due to health and safety concerns surrounding the venue.

Speaking about the postponement of the Manchester match at Planet Ice, MK Lightning general manager Vito Rausa said: “Our games against Manchest er are always exciting, and it’s also disappointing to have to postpone our last home game bef ore Christmas.

“But I know that everyone will understand that the safety of the Phoenix team and of both sets of supporters is more important – we’ll let everyone know as soon as we’re able to reschedule.”

Lightning are due to be back in action on Thursday, December 30 at home to Swindon Wildcats.

Face-off 7.30pm.
