Goal ace back

Last season’s top goal scorer Monir Kalgoum has committed his future to MK Lightning next season.

The re-signing of the 26-year-old Swede, who had 35 goals and 57 assists to his name, is a huge boost to the club’s hopes of retaining the English Premier League title.

Kalgoum joined Lightning at thebeginning of the 2009/10 season from Austrian club, Kapfenburg, and is a huge favourite among the Lighting faithful.

Netminding duo Barry Hollyhead and Alex Mettam have also put pen to paper to keep them in Milton Keynes for another year while Grant McPherson signed on for a fifth successive campaign with Lightning.

Meanwhile, MK Thunder are also continuing to rebuild their squad three months before embarking on their 2010/11 English National League Division One season.

Lewis Clifford has been confirmed as the Thunder coach, and he will assist general manager Dave Fairhust in assembling the new team.

This season Thunder have opted to bring in players who are based around Milton Keynes, with only three allowed from outside the area who have played at a higher level.

They have already snapped up the services of Jamie Line from EPL’s Basingstoke Bison who will also train with Lightning when available.

Lines, a forward, has spent time at Bracknell Bees, Slough Jets and Basingstoke, as well as two years with Great Britain’s Under-18s.

Ross Bowers has also switched from Lightning to Thunder.
