MK DONS 4 BLACKPOOL 3 (AET)
Carling Cup - Second Round

Danny Woodards congratulates Sam Baldock after he opened the scoring in the first minute
Lewis Guy netted an extra-time winner to dump Premier League Blackpool out of the Carling Cup, and fired MK Dons in to the third round for the first time since 2006.
Guy, on as second half substitute, grabbed his first Dons goal in the 110th minute in a seven-goal thriller last night to set up a possible meeting one of top flight’s European playing sides who now enter the competition.
Dons almost sealed victory in normal time thanks to Sam Baldock’s first minute strike and Jermaine Easter’s second-half brace sandwiched either side of scores from Brett Ormerod and Ludovic Sylvestre in a breathless ten minute spell.
But Charlie Adam’s penalty eight minutes from normal time took the game into extra-time where Dons managed to hunt down the decisive goal.
The Dons were bright and brought the game alight with Baldock finding the net less than a minute after kick-off.
Baldock’s timing was impeccable as he latched on to a long ball from Sean O’Hanlon, rolled off the shoulder of Dekel Keinan and stunned stadiummk with a right-footed finish from just inside the box.
By the tenth minute Dons could have added a second, although Angelo Balanta dragged his shot from Luke Chadwick’s pass just wide of Mark Halstead’s right post.
David Martin’s first real stop of the night was a simple one as Ishmel Demontagnac wasted a free-kick down the right channel by firing straight at the Dons goalie.
Dean Lewington stretched the Seasiders’ fullback Neal Eardley, whipped the ball in at pace from the byline yet this time Baldock, a matter of yards from goal, couldn’t find the killer touch.
Ten minutes before the break Baldock could have had a hat-trick as his third clear-cut opportunity of the night finished with a scuffed effort falling in to the arms of a relieved Halstead.
There were warning signs for the Dons not to let Blackpool take control when, five minutes after the inter va,l the visitors had an Ormerod goal ruled offside.
But moments later Ormerod had his equaliser with an acrobatic effort from Neal Eardley’s cross.
That goal sparked a frenzy of activity – Easter was first provided a route through to goal by a perfectly timed ball from Balanta and Easter shrugged off the recovering defender to slot beyond Halstead.
Dons next attack ended in the same fashion as Easter, assisted by Baldock, expertly made it 3-2.
The noise at stadiummk reached a deafening level but the Cowshed were quickly silenced when the Seasiders continued their fightback by hitting a second goal a minute later.
Sylvestre’s free-kick from the left of the area evaded everyone in the Dons box and a late bounce had Martin beaten.
And then a needless push on Ormerod by skipper Lewington allowed Blackpool to draw level from the penalty spot.
Substitute Charlie’s cool spot-kick had Martin fooled and left both sides gunning for a winner in nine minutes.
Both had chances to win it in normal time – Blackpool had a goal ruled offside and an effort cleared off the line by Danny Woodards, while Peter Leven hit the post with a late free-kick.
But the game was settled in extra-time.
Jabo Ibehre had an effort cleared off the line by Danny Coid before Guy found the all-important fourth as he ran on to Easter’s flick-on to pick out the bottom corner.
The third round draw is made on Saturday.
