MK Dons assistant manager John Gorman writes exclusively for MK NEWS every week...
I can't gloss over the defeat at Carlisle.
I thought we were the better side for 40 minutes, but the decision not to send off Ian Harte turned the game. It fired up the home crowd, you could hear the aggression in the fans, and that fired up the Carlisle players.
If you can take a positive out of a 4-1 defeat it is that we didn’t allow our heads to drop – Peter Leven got his goal, and in fairness we should have nicked one or two more.
Karl getting sent to the stands after their first goal didn’t make too much difference if I’m honest.
We were in contact throughout and sometimes it’s better if you have someone watching in the stands because they can see things we might miss on the touchline.
I thought it was petty from the fourth official to call the referee over for something as minor as kicking a bottle, he didn’t really connect with it either, if he had it would have hit me!
We can’t be too downbeat about the result, after all there have been a few odd ones recently just look at all the 6-0s in the Premier League.
Now we have to put that game to bed and concentrate on Swindon Town on Saturday, which will be our first home league game of the season.
I have very fond memories of my time at Swindon, I was assistant to Glenn Hoddle when we got promoted to the Premiership, which was my highlight.
I was manager during the year in the Premiership, it was a hard season. We knew after the first game that we were going to be relegated.
At that time you didn’t get any money for promotion and there was a lot of doom and gloom at the time.
We’ve had Swindon scouted and by all accounts their two draws could have both been wins so we won’t be taking them lightly.
Danny is a good friend of ours and obviously used to be the manager here so we’re looking for ward to the game.
