KARLRobinson wants more attacking players to help drive Dons towards promotion glory.
The boss believes that having extra options in the final third could be key during the business end of the season and is planning raids in the loan window.
He has been inspired by other clubs who have bolstered their front-lines for the run-in and also feels that if injuries strike, up top would be the worst area of the field to have a shortage of men.
“Players at the top end of the pitch can define your season,” Robinson said.
“The more of them you have, the more options it gives you and the more you can rest players and freshen it up at the right time.
“I remember Peterborough going for loads of forwards at the end of the season, and West Ham are doing it and they’re top.”
When Robinson does swoop for new players timing will have to be key due to the complexities of the loan window, which remains open until March 22 even though the regular window is closed.
Anyone who comes in can only be signed on a 93-day-loan, so could miss the last action of the season if brought in too early.
Dons lost Rowan Vine for the final games of last term when his loan expired in this fashion, and Robinson doesn’t want any new additions to be unavailable for the potentially key last games of the campaign, which could be the play-offs.
Robinson said:“I’m looking for another forward or a wide player.
“Maybe someone who can ask the questions up front if we get injuries in the latter part of the season.
“But we’ve got to be very careful of when, who and how we do it.
“I don’t think we can strengthen the defence, and I don’t think we can strengthen just in front where we have DarrenPotter, Stephen Gleeson and now Alan Smith.”
Dons have been linked with a number of players and Robinson admitted that he is pleased with the club getting attention.
He said: “It’s amazing how many times you see our name mentioned, we’ve never had so many people talking about us.
“We’re now a club that people want to come and play for which has never been the case before.”
Robinson refused to rule out a move for Tottenham wide-man David Bentley – a friend from his days at Blackburn Rovers.
And he admitted disappointment about losing right-back Adam Smith, who was recalled by Tottenham late into the transfer window and immediately loaned out again to Leeds.
“It went a bit sour the way it finished, a phone call and a letter recalling him 24-hours before the window closed,” he said.
“If he went back to be bought or go in the first team, you’d accept it, I thought going back to go on loan again was disrespectful.”
Meanwhile, the FAhave confirmed that they will be taking no further action after Robinson was sent to the stands during the 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.
