CARLISLE United sent MK Dons to their third straight defeat last night with a 4-3 win at stadiummk.

As a consequence the Dons have slipped from joint-second to sixth in the space of a ten days.

Kevan Hurst's early strike and Vincent Pericard's brace handed Carlisle a shock three goal lead, but the Dons hit back with three of their own. Luke Chadwick's double added with Sam Baldock's second league goal of the season signalled a comeback for the home side.

But when substitute Joe Anyinsah netted from the influential Graham Kavanagh's corner the Dons' hopes were all but gone.

Dons were rocked by Carlisle's early breakthrough, and remained shaky at the back throughout. A record that reads 11 goals conceded in three games will no doubt concern Paul Ince.

The defence simply stood and watched Hurst stride into the box to put the Cumbrians in front in the fifth minute.

Graham Kavanagh, who drifted from midfield to support sole striker Vincent Pericard from the offset, was unchallenged as he made his way to the right by-line to cut back to the six-yard box for the waiting Hurst.

The Dons players appeared motionless as, almost in slow motion Hurst bettered his position, and slotted past Willy Gueret when he, and Mathias Doumbe, made late attempts to clear.

Carlisle were at ease on the ball and the early goal had clearly knocked the Dons confidence, but worse was to come as the visitors trebled their lead with two goals in three minutes.

The Cumbrians had done their home work, exposing the Dons' fragile nature when it comes to set pieces. Kavanagh lofted in a inch-perfect free-kick from the left for Pericard managed to turn awkwardly to nod in their second.

Dons' Danny Swailes tried to show they were no soft touch with a strong tackle on Pericard, only to be penalised by the referee.

And, this time from the right, it was Kavanagh's free-kick Pericard headed Carlisle 3-0 up with 20 minutes on the clock.

Ince's side were in danger of dropping their heads and falling further behind but, backed by a vocal Cowshed, began to stage a fight back.

And Luke Chadwick was the man at the centre of the comeback with two goals in as many minutes.

The winger profited from a blocked Baldock shot as the ball fell to him at the edge of the box. Rather squeeze his way through the Carlisle defence, Chadwick put his laces through the ball to pull a goal back.

And the former Manchester United star made sure the score line made better reading at half-time seconds later.

Carlisle's defence was caught out by Devany's cross which allowed to Chadwick to fire a close range shot which was kept out only by Adam Collin's legs.

But attempts to clear backfired as Baldock got his head to the ball and Chadwick rolled it beyond the Cumbrian keeper.

On the stroke of half-time Collin produced a great one-handed stop to deny a fiercely struck Jason Puncheon free-kick levelling the scores.

That was left to Baldock 64 seconds into the restart with an intelligent run that left Carlisle defenders Evan Horwood and Ian Harte furiously exchanging words.

Baldock spotted Wilbraham's through ball, turned Horwood and Harte with ease before advancing into the area to score his second in as many games.

However, if the Dons thought they had turned the game they were forced to think again when yet another set-piece proved their downfall.

For the fourth time Kavanagh provide the assist for his team mates with an inswinging corner which Carlisle substitute Anyinsah poked home.

Ince, looking for his side to once again return to level terms, introduced Welsh international Jermaine Easter and Jemal Johnson to boost the Dons' strike power.

A shot from Puncheon and Swailes' header went close for the Dons but a fourth and fifth proved too much for the home side.

Pericard could have bagged a hat-trick on the counterattack only to hit the woodwork when he had just Gueret to beat, and Tawio was dismissed in injury time for a second caution but it was too late for the Dons to take any advantage.
