A photographer has been on his coldest, darkest assignment yet.
Uzair Kharwala, 40, from Sandhills went to the far reaches of Sweden to test a new camera at conditions of minus 30 degrees.
With the dream job of testing Nikon's equipment before it hits the shelves, he was sent to see how the new D3s camera fared when capturing the natural phenomenon, the Northern Lights.

Mr Kharwala describes shooting in tough conditions as his 'forte and speciality'.
"I am the first person in the UK to get hold of one of these cameras and Nikon thought this was the perfect way to test it, to capture the Northern Lights."
He spent five days on the assignment last month.
"It was very, very challenging. One of those days it was minus 30 degrees and the camera was like an ice block in my hands. It was difficult to use the camera because I had to keep my second pair of gloves on."
He incorporated it with a wedding photo shoot with a difference - at Sweden's famous Ice Hotel.
"The couple Claire and James originally asked me to photograph their wedding reception at Woburn. But when I heard where the ceremony was taking place, I told them my forte and speciality was shooting in low light and extreme conditions. They invited me along and were very happy with the result."
