Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a robbery at a charity shop in Kingston yesterday (Wednesday).
At 5.32pm, police received a report of a robbery at a charity shop within the Kingston Centre.
At 5pm, as the MK Kingston Community shop was closing, a 42-year-old woman working there was assaulted by a male who had entered the premises through a rear door. She was struck several times during the incident and the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing.
The victim suffered extensive bruising and required hospital treatment.
There is no description of the offender.
DS Phil Walsh said: “This was a nasty incident and the victim has been left very shaken and upset.
“The shop is in a very busy area directly opposite the main entrance at Tesco in Kingston, so I am hopeful someone may have witnessed the incident as they walked past or seen someone suspicious hanging around the area.”
Anyone with any information should contact DS Walsh via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
If you don't want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
