Resident in dark over broken light

A worried resident is looking for answers after waiting more than two months for a light near her home to be fixed.

Lesley Randall, of Langland Road, Netherfield, has been passed from pillar to lamppost and now she’s calling for Milton Keynes Council to shine some light on the situation.

Mrs Randall said: “The lamppost has been out since before Christmas and Milton Keynes Council said it would get it fixed in seven days.”

The problem has become more of a concern recently as the light is situated at the back of Mrs Randall’s house and last Monday night her gate was kicked down.

Although she can’t be sure the two things are connected, she’s not ruling out the possibility that the vandals would have been put off if the area was properly lit.

And because the area was so dark her husband could not see anyone when he went outside to investigate the noise.

After contacting the council and the Netherfield Housing Office to ask them to fix the problem, she has been left wondering who will take responsibility for the ‘lonely lamppost’ as both organisations have been passing the buck onto each other.

She said: “If someone gave me a light bulb I’d go out there and put it in myself.”

Mrs Randall is not concerned about who resolves the problem she just wants it to be sorted out.

“You’d have thought the council and the housing office would talk to each other and sort out who needs to fix it instead of just going back and forward,” she added.

A council spokesman told MK NEWS that the lighting engineer has been in contact with the housing office and the problem will be sorted out in ‘due course’.
