THE wait for the new Coachway to open continues.
The old gateway to the city was closed in April 2008 to make way for a swanky new model with work due to start in September of that year and an opening date of January 2009.
But the build, on Brook Furlong at Junction 14 on the M1, only started in July last year, delayed due to a shortfall of £620,000 in the original budget.
Now the unveiling of the new problem-hit building has been put back again, this time to the Autumn.
The project, a joint venture between the council, the Homes and Communities Agency and National Express, has hit yet another snag, meaning coach users will have to continue using the temporary station on Silbury Boulevard in Campbell Park.
A spokesman for all partners said: "The final fit-out of the building is due to start soon and the decision has been taken to delay the opening to avoid disruption during the peak holiday travel season.
"The delay from the proposed spring opening has been caused by a combination of factors including additional drainage investigation, an extended period spent resolving legal contracts and the worst winter weather conditions in 30 years.
"We appreciate the delay is frustrating to travellers, but the Coachway is a vital gateway into the city and we need to ensure that all issues are resolved before this fantastic new building opens to the public."
