The council is tackling an infestation of cockroaches in 200 flats in Central Milton Keynes.

Animal control officers from Milton Keynes Council are working to eradicate the problem of cockroaches at North Ninth and Tenth Streets by going into all of the flats to carry out pest control.

Previous attempts have not been successful in solving the problem totally because access was not provided by residents to all of the flats in the block.

With the cooperation of the majority of residents and where necessary warrants issued to gain access to other properties, every single home is to be treated to control the pest problem.

Karen Ford, council manager with responsibility for animal control, said: “The residents of these properties were right to get upset as the distress caused by this infestation should not be endured by anyone.

“We have tried so many different ways to solve this problem but each time the cockroaches have come back with vengeance.

“The only way to deal with this now is to go into each and every flat to treat the problem.”

“This is the only way we can guarantee success, otherwise in a few months the pests will be back to bother those people that live and work in the properties.”
