The town council has set its budget at a below-inflation increase of 1.69 per cent.

Despite the current economic background and the loss of £51,000 in investment income, Leighton-Linslade Town Council is striving to gradually reduce council tax increases.
Council leader, Brian Sadler, says the continuation of providing services is their priority.
In fact, within this year's budget, there will be an increased spend for improving children’s play areas, in particular a Splash and Play feature in Parsons Close recreation ground.
Money has also been freed up for the acquisition of green space and improvements to sports facilities.
There is also a strategic review of the Big Plan to ensure the town continues to identify and provide for the needs of residents.
This programme will be funded through the precept and £87,000 from capital reserves.
The impact on total reserves is expected to be small, leaving a healthy reserve in the region of £550,000 for future investments.
Savings have been realised over the past two years, and with officers’ co-operation, a staffing review and restructuring has been completed.
