Highways bosses have gone back to the drawing board with plans to widen the carriageway and introduce filter lanes at the B&Q mini roundabouts in Bletchley.
It follows a consultation with residents over the often-congested intersection of Watling Street and Saxon Street.
Milton Keynes Council has now planned a study of the transport issues affecting the Bletchley area.
In the meantime it will be looking at some measures to relieve congestion at the intersection and the surrounding area.
When the study is complete later this year and if its recommendations are approved improvements will start on the junction next year.
Meanwhile work to realign the approach roads to the Granby Roundabout on Bletcham Way is to go ahead as planned.
Cllr Alan Mallyon, cabinet member responsible for transport, said: “We have responded positively to what people have said through the consultation process; we have therefore modified our plans to make way for a fourth arm off the roundabout serving the Denbigh Industrial Estate.
“This fourth arm will provide great benefit to businesses and shoppers using the Estate, providing a safer, additional means of access and taking traffic away from the B&Q junction. The inclusion of the fourth arm and the improved access this brings has been supported locally by businesses in the Denbigh area.”
