Sunday, February 5, 9am and 2.45pm
SOME of the best singing groups in the country will be flexing their vocal chords at Milton Keynes Theatre in a BBC competition.
A wide range of musical styles will be demonstrated, with Bach, Barbershop, Mozart and Glee all expected to be on display.
The hopeful groups will feature both children and adults, and Buckinghamshire School Choir are one of the entrants.
Everyone will be trying to impress a panel of expert judges to make it through to the semi-final of the BBC’s Choir of the Year contest.
Presenter and singer Rebecca Lodge hosts the event and there will be plenty of opportunities for members of the public to get involved and try out some singing too.
The Choir of the Year Competition is the largest competition of its kind in the UK, attracting the very best singing groups who compete for the accolade.
Opening rounds are held at venues across the UK and it all builds up to a grand final at the Royal Festival Hall in London in October. This will be recorded and broadcast by the BBC in a special Choir of the Year 2012 programme on BBC Four.
To add to the drama, a panel of expert judges will give live feedback on the performances and only the very best will be given the chance to go through.
Tickets per session cost £10 (concessions £7) and all-day tickets are £16 (concessions £10).
They are available from the theatre’s box office on 0844 8717652, or www.atgtickets.com/
