City MPs talk to business bosses

Dr Phyllis StarkeyMark Lancaster MP‘How do local politicians view the importance of business in the forthcoming election?’

That’s the question Institute of Directors (IOD) members will be putting to local MPs over the coming weeks, starting with a special event planned for April 8 As part of its series of briefings, the IOD has invited Mark Lancaster MP to speak to members and their guests at an evening meeting entitled ‘Pizza & Politics’ to be held at the National Badminton Centre, Loughton, on April 8, followed by a second evening with Dr Phyllis Starkey MP on April 20. Mr Lancaster, will be addressing the role of politics in wealth creation.

He said: ”I’ve always believed that business is the lifeblood of our city and it is incumbent on us, as politicians, to ensure that we put in place the framework to allow business to succeed - especially here in MK. This is why this event is so important”.

IOD chairman Jonathan Bailey: “With the election on the horizon, we felt it was useful to remind our local MPs that business has a voice and a vital role to play in ensuring this country gets back on its feet again.

This evening is an opportunity for us to hear Mark’s views, as both a local businessman and MP. I’m delighted that we’ll also be hearing from Phyllis later in the month.”
